The Government of Canada recently announced contributions of $273,000 to Boreal Genomics Inc and $496,000 to Day4 Energy Inc to support innovative research and development projects. The contributions are from the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program, and aims to assist both firms in producing high technological solutions for markets worldwide.

The government investment in science and technology is intended to promote job creation and strengthen the economy. It also forms part of Canada's Economic Action Plan which encourages scientific research and commercialization to help improve Canadian quality of life. The funding to Boreal Genomics is for the development of new technology to find diseased DNA codes in blood samples. Whereas the contribution to Day4 Energy will help make solar energy more widespread.
